Cover Reveal Sign-Up!

fireandfeathersNext Wednesday I’m going to be revealing the full cover for my short story titled “A Treacherous Flame.” It’s going to take place in The Stars Trilogy universe and will be told from the viewpoint of a boy named Benjamin Fairchild. I don’t yet have a formal summary for it, but I can tell you he is an interrogator at a placed called Usiburn Tower. He is in charge of extracting confessions from witches–then killing them afterward. What’s unique about him is that he isn’t afraid to use torture to get what he wants. So, like When Stars Die, it’ll be a brutal, gritty dark fantasy. It’s going to be available for free on Amazon on October 31st!

By helping me out with this cover reveal, you will be eligible to win a first-edition copy of When Stars Die, back when it was with AEC Stellar Publishing, Inc. I tried to create an official sign-up form to help me out, but since my job has taken up too much of my time and I just feel so burnt out anymore, you can either leave your email in the comments or email me at thedancingwriter@gmail.com if you’d like to help out! You’ll then be entered into the drawing.

For those on Tumblr who happen to see this, you can just message me your email.

 ***News***

  • When Stars Die now has a release date. It’ll be November 21st of this year! You can add it on Goodreads here.
My Acceptance as Sand Hill Magazine’s Webmaster

My Acceptance as Sand Hill Magazine’s Webmaster

614b8ef35a0e9f3697d44563fb18024c About two weeks ago my university’s literary magazine put out a call for a new staff, and because my best friend had done it, I decided to apply for it on a whim–I am very much about doing things on a whim. Before, I never would have imagined joining Sand Hills because the previous advisor of the magazine only allowed creative writing majors, which I thought was stupid because it barred non-creative writing majors who wanted experience with a literary magazine from ever getting that experience. Not all of us who want to work in publishing or do some kind of publishing want to be creative writing majors.

In any case, I wanted to be a fiction editor because I love to edit, obviously, but I was awarded with the title of Webmaster instead. At first, I was incredibly confused because I probably have more editorial experience than the average creative writing major–or average student wanting to get involved in publishing in some way. Also, being a webmaster was my last choice. I’m simply assuming, really, that I have more experience than the average person who applied because I’ve had my own literary magazine for about three years. But I was also probably the only one who had some experience–or extensive experience–in creating websites and making them unique through some sort of logo, even if I’ve only ever done templates.

I get to create a new website though, which is exciting, and I don’t have to create one from scratch. I can just choose some template and go from there. I know I’m going to use Weebly because it has some great templates, and I already have one I’d like to use for the Sand Hill’s literary magazine. Even though I am a Webmaster, I still get to help with deciding which fiction pieces should be chosen, which is exciting in itself. I also still have to put together issue ten of The Corner Club Press. For that, I really just need to add in the bios and contents, go through and check for formatting errors, and send it off to Mariah to check for other errors, and it’ll be done. Then there is a paranormal issue that I want to put together in honor of When Stars Die.

In other news…

This Thursday I am doing a cover reveal of AEC Stellar’s anthology that is coming out next month, featuring a short story done by me called “I Am the Bell Jar.” There will be other exciting stories two, two of which I had a part in editing. It involves two mentally ill teens and what happens to a relationship when both of them are unstable.

Also, don’t forget about the Rafflectoper giving away volumes 1-4 of Game of Thrones.

The cover art contest is still going on and will be ending on the 25th of this month. So hurry up and vote for your favorite cover art. You will be supporting that author.

And mark your calendars for October 22nd, because that is when When Stars Die will be coming out–first in paperback, which I hope you will buy because the entire cover wrap is gorgeous; next in e-book.

Isn't it beautiful?
Isn’t it beautiful?

In honor of When Stars Die, I am doing another giveaway. The paranormal book giveaway was a success, and the winner has already been chosen and notified via e-mail. This will be done via Rafflecopter, so just follow what the rafflecopter shows, and you will be entered! This will go on for 3 weeks. Currently the box set of GoT is very cheap, but that may change, so I want to make certain I have enough time to scrounge together some money for this–while also having extra padding.

Since WordPress cannot use Rafflecopter, you’ll simply have to click on the link.

So I’m still feeling on the blah side of things, but I’m still getting stuff done, which is good news, but it might be some time before I get back into topical blog posts. So here are just a few updates. For one, The Corner Club Press is having a paranormal themed issue and wants paranormal stories in celebration of When Stars Die’s release. I also want to remind you about the YA paranormal romance book giveaway going on.

So what do you have to do to get entered for this giveaway? Simple, really. Last, I am having a short story appearing in an anthology AEC Stellar Publishing is putting together. This short story will be my first time writing anything that is literary. It is also the direction I want to take my writing in after all my genre stories are done.

A Chapter a Day and The Writer’s Bag

A Chapter a Day and The Writer’s Bag

Where Stolentime revisions go.
Where Stolentime revisions go.

So in spite of the ache I have carried with me all day, I managed to get things done. To your left is my fancy smancy notebook for Stolentime revisions. I re-did the revised chapter one notes for the third time because a headcanon from Tumblr of my favorite little Kuroshitsuji II character, Alois Trancy, inspired me to introduce the darkness of my novel upfront. It’ll probably be a few weeks before I actually get to revisions but the chapter one notes are part of a brand new chapter one. My current chapter one will be chapter two, which is very common for me. I was also able to finish the chapter I started yesterday because a random burst of inspiration hit me for how I wanted to tie the ending of the chapter and it was something I couldn’t resist.

Notes for 'Sister Evelyn'
Notes for ‘Sister Evelyn’

I also started doing notes for an installation piece that I am going to do to introduce the world you will find in When Stars Die. Sister Evelyn is a character I came up with on the fly, but she will show the stresses of being a witch and vying for a position as a professed nun at Cathedral Reims. I told you I don’t like to speak about my book in plain terms, and I hope you will enjoy the installation piece I might put up next week contingent on time. By the way, that accordion folder to the right isn’t just stuffed with notes for Sister Evelyn. Part one only takes up three pieces of paper. The rest are blank pages and two short stories I hope to have included with When Stars Die. It goes in my Writer’s Bag, as does the above notebook.

I also managed to gather more reviewers. I am sitting at 39 right now and would like more, so let me know if you’re interested in reviewing a paranormal romance. You will receive a free ARC in exchange for doing a review or a quote. Tomorrow I will probably only put up one blog post so I can work on the next chapter in Stolentime as my job cuts in the middle of the day, which is oftentimes convenient especially because there will be no time when I’m alone, so I can’t do any mult-tasking at work tomorrow. Also, don’t forget about the book giveaway for Frank Beddor’s The Looking Glass Wars! That will go until Saturday 9 PM.

Last, I would appreciate if you could like my Facebook page, and you can find that to the right. Share it too, if possible. I want to start utilizing it more instead of just having it sit there.

There was actually a tie between 13 Reasons Why and The Looking Glass Wars, and because I promised to make a choice last night, I wasn’t going to wait around for someone to break the tie. So I just closed my eyes and chose between the two. So, without further ado, The Looking Glass Wars!

The Myth: Alice was an ordinary girl who stepped through the looking glass and entered a fairy-tale world invented by Lewis Carroll in his famous storybook. The Truth: Wonderland is real. Alyss Heart is the heir to the throne, until her murderous aunt Redd steals the crown and kills Alyss? parents. To escape Redd, Alyss and her bodyguard, Hatter Madigan, must flee to our world through the Pool of Tears. But in the pool Alyss and Hatter are separated. Lost and alone in Victorian London, Alyss is befriended by an aspiring author to whom she tells the violent, heartbreaking story of her young life. Yet he gets the story all wrong. Hatter Madigan knows the truth only too well, and he is searching every corner of our world to find the lost princess and return her to Wonderland so she may battle Redd for her rightful place as the Queen of Hearts.

The rule are the same. You must be following me and you must comment to be entered. Simply liking this post will do you no good. It would also be great if you could re-blog, Tweet, FB it, or whatever you social bugs have.

I will be giving this book away Saturday at 9 PM.

Next week, due to the tie, I will be giving away 13 Reasons Why.

Thank you so much for being such great followers! Good luck!
